DrKolios will present Cranfield Energy and Power Theme and the state-of-the-art research that researchers currently work on across a range of disciplines related to Energy and Power such as Offshore Renewable Energy, Oil and Gas Engineering, Bioenergy and Resource Management, Power Engineering and Combustion Carbon Capture and storage. Specific focus will be given to developments in Offshore Renewable Energy, as this is a topic particularly relevant to the Chinese context with several marine and offshore energy technologies currently been developed. Finally, the Cranfield Energy and Power Doctoral Training Programme will be presented together with the activities of the Renewable Energy Marine Structures Centre for Doctoral Training.
Dr Athanasios Kolios is a Senior Lecturer in Risk Management and Reliability Engineering and Director of the Energy Doctoral Training Programme at Cranfield University. His research expertise includes the reliability analysis using non-intrusive stochastic expansions, risk-based design, analysis and operational management of offshore/marine structures, and integrity assessment of ageing structures. DrKolios is currently the technical lead and PI for several projects related to energy systems.He has authored more than 90 peer-reviewed journal and conference papers, and acts as a reviewer for key international journals. He currently lectures on the topics of Risk and Reliability Engineering and Management for Technology. DrKolios is a Chartered Engineering of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers and a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.
